Dr. Smith is the CIO of Object Management Group, Inc, as well as the VP / Technical Director of the OMG Standards Development Organization, supporting communities across a broad set of industries to create, curate, and communicate their best practices through collaboration and open participation.

Prior to stepping into this role, his focus has been on applying his research in the field of abstraction theory to engineering disciplines, to create normative semantic systems for human and machine analysis.
